I have had the pleasure of teaching poetry at various venues since 2008. I have taught adult poetry workshops in Nyack, a workshop for teachers through the New York City Writing Project, and poetry workshops for students ranging from those in elementary school to college in the greater New York area and in Central America. I am passionate about poetry and making it accessible to everyone. I believe reading and writing poetry can help us see the world in a much different way than we are accustomed to; it taps into our unique imaginings and creativity causing us to expand and connect at the same time. Poetry also can be a vehicle for healing and reflecting on our personal lives. My teaching is academically based yet compassionate.
If you are interested in having me lead a workshop, please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
“Rebecca’s programs provided age and grade level appropriate
information for students in grades 1-8. Rebecca has a wonderful
rapport with the children, and she makes writing poetry fun and
accessible for all! I highly recommend Ms. Watkins’
assemblies and poetry workshops.“

“Rebecca’s Women’s Poetry Workshop was a perfect chance for me to recommit to my writing. The combination of her expertise, warmth and sense of humor allowed me to feel free to write and share my poems. Her assignments were inspiring, and her feedback was invaluable. She’s a fantastic teacher!”
